No such thing as imputed jazznessnous

On friday I borrowed a four volume Oscar Peterson set.. and it’s simply amazing.
What really overawes me is the technical level that he plays. I mean.. sometimes you listen to music and think.. “aye.. give it a bit of time and perhaps I could work it out” or “ah.. thats the old A Bm A/C# Bm/D E6 E E6 E ascending combo” (bonus points if you can name the song!). But with his stuff - there’s luscious juicy chords oozing with suspensions, syncopations like a chilli kick in a chocolate bar and his hands seem to operate like two independent cigar-smoking, brandy-swilling jazzed-up squirrels in a contrapuntal exercise program… just an unattainable level of piano genius.
